Strengthening Rural Communities

Growing up in Jessup, there wasn’t a real farm for miles—but that didn’t stop me from being around them.

As a kid, my parents would take me up to Wyoming County to visit my great-uncle’s dairy farm. Later, I spent summers in Susquehanna County. Next to our family’s cottage was a dairy farm, and one day I asked the farmer if he needed help. He said yes. From then on, I helped with hay baling, cleaning the barn, and doing whatever needed doing.

This “town mouse” got a firsthand look at the hard work farm families endure every day just to make a living. There are no breaks—it’s a 24/7 job. And like so many farms across our region, those two farms are now just memories.

For generations, families in our area have worked the land, providing food, jobs, and a deep connection to our natural resources. But today, too many are being forced to sell their land or shut down due to rising costs, aging infrastructure, and economic challenges.

Did you know? Farmers in our district collectively lose nearly $2 million annually. And the chaos in Washington is only making things worse.

Here in Pennsylvania, we need to come together and take bold, local action to keep our farms alive—because without it, this trend will only get worse. I won’t let that happen. I will fight for you every day.

Most days, I spend my time working on or near a farm—sometimes right alongside you, helping to bring internet access that keeps your business competitive.

I see your struggles. I hear your concerns. And I believe you deserve a senator who’s not afraid to muck stalls or run a tractor. Someone who gets their hands dirty and their boots muddy to get things done.

I will never forget our agricultural communities—or let them be left behind because of other priorities.

I promise you this: I’m here now, and I’ll be there for you then.

The Bottom Line: Rural NEPA Needs a Champion

Too many family farms are shutting down
Too many rural communities are being left behind
Too many opportunities are lost because of bad policy decisions

Here’s What I’ll Fight For:

  • Fair Pricing – Stop the losses and help farmers turn a profit again.
  • Modern Infrastructure – Roads, broadband, electric grid, and cold storage that supports agriculture and growth.
  • Saving Our Dairy Industry – Including supporting efforts to build a dairy processing facility here in the district to serve NEPA counties.
  • Sustainable Practices – Help farmers protect land and water while boosting productivity.
  • Local Tax Incentives – Work with county commissioners in Monroe, Lackawanna, and Wayne to attract ag-based businesses like dairy processors.
  • Real Bipartisan Solutions – Reach across the aisle to deliver what our farmers need now.

Investing in Rural Infrastructure & Services

Farming doesn’t work without strong infrastructure—but rural needs are often ignored. I want to change that, and I need your help to do it.

  • Broadband Access – High-speed internet is a necessity, not a luxury. Expand access through grants, tax breaks, and public-private partnerships.
Did you know? 18% of farms in our district have no access to affordable internet.
  • Energy Access & Affordability
    • Expand the PA Grid Resilience Grants (PA GRG) program for smarter, more reliable rural electric infrastructure.
    • Cut red tape and expand incentives for solar on barns and outbuildings.
    • Create a farm renewable energy fund to support solar, wind, and battery storage.
  • Modernize Our Roads & Storage Facilities – Get food to market faster, safer, and more affordably.
  • Regenerative Agriculture Training & Grants – Support soil-saving practices like no-till, rotational grazing, and cover cropping.
  • Precision Agriculture Funding – Invest in technologies that cut costs, conserve water, and prevent runoff.
  • Conservation Programs – Preserve forests, wetlands, and the clean water systems our farms and towns rely on.
