Fixing Our Broken Healthcare System
Our healthcare system is failing too many Pennsylvanians—especially in rural communities. Access to quality, affordable healthcare should not be a privilege reserved for the wealthy or well-connected. It is a fundamental human right.
To restore public trust, we need real, systemic change—driven by common ground and focused on real results. As your senator, I will fight for a healthcare system that works for everyone, not just a select few.
Healthcare is a Human Right. FULL STOP.
Everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, regardless of income, background, or ZIP code.
- I support a transition to a public option, allowing Pennsylvanians to continue to choose private insurance while we work toward the goal of affordable public coverage for all!
- We must end healthcare inequities—especially for rural and minority communities that are too often left behind.
No one should have to choose between paying for medicine or paying rent.
Fixing the Healthcare Worker Shortage
Hospitals and clinics across Pennsylvania are facing a staffing crisis. A shortage of doctors, nurses, EMS workers, and hospital staff is undermining access to quality and timely care and overburdening the professionals we do have.
We can fix this crisis:
- Expand training programs for healthcare professionals, including fast-track certification for nurses, paramedics, and technicians.
- Incentivize healthcare careers through student loan forgiveness and tuition assistance for those working in underserved areas and making a 4 year commitment
- Support better wages and working conditions to retain trained hospital staff and prevent burnout-driven resignations.
- Fund rural hospitals and clinics to ensure local, accessible care—because no one should have to drive an hour or more to see a doctor.
- Mandate 2 Paid Mental Health Days a Quarter for full-time Health Care Workers
- Provide Mental Health Counseling for our Health Care Workers as part of their work routine
Protecting and Expanding the Affordable Care Act
With all the chaos coming out of Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania must take action to protect and expand the Affordable Care Act (ACA). We need Bi-Patrician actions to make sure our citizens are protected.
I will not compromise on these areas:
- Maintain coverage of essential health benefits, including mental health services, maternity care, and preventive screenings.
- Protect Medicaid, ensuring low-income families, children, and seniors get the care they need when they need it.
- Ensure coverage for pre-existing conditions, so no one is denied care based on their medical history.
- Prohibit lifetime and annual benefit limits, preventing insurance companies from cutting off care when patients need it most.
Investing in Community-Based Healthcare
- A healthier and economically stronger Pennsylvania starts in our communities. We must invest in local healthcare services to make quality care more accessible.
- Find funding for community health clinics, bringing affordable care directly to neighborhoods and rural areas.
- Ensure county and state health offices are fully staffed, well-trained, and held to high standards of transparency and accountability.
No one should have to wait months for a doctor’s appointment or travel over an hour to get life-saving care.
Pennsylvania Needs a Health System That Works for Everyone
- Our rural hospitals are struggling and while some are closing.
- Our healthcare workers are exhausted and leaving the profession.
- Too many Pennsylvanians can’t afford the care they need.
I will not back away from a fight for:
- A healthcare system that puts people before profits.
- Stronger protections for patients and working families.
- More doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers where they’re needed most.
- Expanded community-based care that meets people where they are.
